Yorkshire-based Level Best Concrete Flooring have successfully completed a 300,000 square foot floor renovation project on Derby Commercial Park, Derby, Derbyshire.
Following the major retailer going into administration in summer 2024, Level Best were tasked with returning the warehouse floor back to its original pre-let base build condition, enabling the major distribution facility to go back onto the letting market, allowing a new tenant to move in immediately with no concerns around the performance, maintenance and serviceability of the warehouse floor.
A series of concrete floor repairs were completed, namely the full depth fixing bolts removal following the strip-out of the previous racking and mezzanine systems. The racking and fixing bolts are core drilled out full depth, the voids prepared and infilled with an industrial-grade repair mortar. Other floor repairs were completed on Derby Commercial Park, Derby, Derbyshire such as surface crack repairs following concrete shrinkage restraint issues imposed by the previous systems. Isolated concrete warehouse floor surface impact damage was repaired adopting a surface breakdown, preparation and reinstating process.
On completion of the concrete floor repairs in Derby, Level Best completed a site-specific tailored RenoFlor warehouse floor cleaning, polishing and sealing system. This process involves removing existing surface contaminants, tyre marking and micro-roughness prior to micro-grinding the surface to a flat and smooth surface finish. A concrete floor sealer is applied on completion to aid with future-dusting and maintenance for the incoming tenant on Derby Commercial Park.
Works onsite did not commence until Level Best had completed a floor survey, inspection and assessment. This inspection provides Level Best the opportunity to assess the warehouse floor’s key design, construction and performance indicators and specify and recommend the correct repair method, providing longer term performance and serviceability benefits to the landlord, client and incoming industrial tenant.
