Citadel Logistics Centre, Wolverhampton

Level Best’s Floor Renovation Division are currently undergoing a large-scale dilapidation repair and replacement project located in Citadel Logistics Centre, Wolverhampton. The project utilises both Level Best’s dedicated pouring team and renovation team to provide the client with an improved concrete floor slab to modern warehouse, logistics and industrial operational expectations.

Level Best’s scope of works at Citadel Logistics Centre, Wolverhampton commenced with the breaking out and reinstatement of 9000m2 slab. Perimeter full depth saw cuts allowed for slab sections to be removed, subbase regulation to take place as well as dowels to be installed into the retained slabs for load transfer and direct discharge pours to take place consecutively to adhere accurately to the FM2 specification on the final finished floor level.

Level Best are now offering landlords, client’s agents and building contractors with an onsite crushing service. This will allow all existing warehouse floor arisings to be crushed onsite, graded to suitable recycled subgrade/subbase material and reused. This will save reduced projects costs by avoiding the need to import new quarried materials to create new formations. The crushing service will also massively reduce Level Best’s onsite carbon footprint by reducing on quarrying operations, disposal haulage and importing new haulage.

Whilst these works were taking place, Level Best’s floor renovation team got to work making good the areas that are to be retained, one of the main operations being patch repairs. Upon surveying, the existing slab condition was poor with numerous sections of the slab having superficial damage, gouges and chips due to previous tenant operations. The team used high-strength cementitious repair mortar to fill in these sections and leave proud ready for grinding and polishing for a strong and seamless floor finish.

Once all removal, replacement and refurbishment operations are complete in the West Midlands, Level Best is to implement their RenoFlor concrete cleaning, polishing and sealing floor treatment system. This process involves improving the slabs abrasion, wearing and structural capacity whilst also improving the aesthetics, dustproofing and longevity. These benefits are achieved through an innovative grinding technique alongside the application of heard-wearing products to produce an improved concrete floor capable of withstanding the operation expectations of a modern warehouse facility.

Following the successful completion of the works at Wolverhampton, Birmingham Level Best’s Renovation Teams will be mobilising to sites in Northampton and Derby to carry out more Floor Renovation projects utilizing Level Best’s extensive knowledge and ground-breaking industry techniques.
